Southwings' pilot Susan Lapis takes flight with The Economist in a story about reforestation in areas affected by coal mining.

In February, SouthWings pilots Bob Kuehlthau and Gilbert Pierce flew filmmaker's Sam Despeaux and Carly Calhoun in Alabama and Tennessee. The film above includes aerial footage from both flights as part of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy's film highlighting the New Johnsonville and Widows Creek coal plants-two of the TVA's least efficient and most polluting plants. Footage in the film is also from a 2009 flight with the filmmakers and SouthWings pilot Hap Endler. TVA is currently deciding whether to retire some of its oldest and dirtiest plants.
