In Hampton Roads, VA, #ClimateChange affects our daily lives and is an increasing threat to our national security, quality of life, and the environment. Dr. Joe Bouchard, former Captain and Naval Station Norfolk Commander, Delegate Kelly Convirs-Fowler, and Cheryl Turpin for Virginia Beach addressed the importance for public officials and residents to step up and act on climate change.

Last week, Appalachia to Atlantic Program Manager Jake Faber participated in the quarterly Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission meeting in Conway, South Carolina. Pictured here with Commissioner James Fullwood, Jake was eager to discuss potential partnerships to enrich and protect cultural heritage landscapes.

The Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor ranges from Pender County, North Carolina, to St. Johns County, Florida. The Commission aims to preserve Gullah Geechee folklore, arts, crafts, and music; and to assist in identifying and preserving sites, historical data, artifacts, and objects associated with Gullah Geechee people and culture for the benefit and education of the public.
