It’s Friday, and I bet you’re itchin’ to get your weekend adventure started. For our Chesapeake Program Manager, nothing beats escaping the hustle like spending time in the woods — stream hopping with fly rod in hand and a pup by her side. Before you head out, take action to protect our national forests!

The U.S. Forest Service is proposing sweeping policy changes that would eliminate public involvement and environmental review for most national forest decisions, including logging projects, road construction, and even pipelines.

Our southeastern public lands are ecological wonders, with rare old growth forests, habitat for an astounding diversity of imperiled species, and clean water for millions of people downstream. Public lands, like Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia in the photo, provide playgrounds for the adventurous and solitude for the harried soul. With all of these values, it’s easy to see why public input is so crucial. Take a moment to tell the Forest Service why your voice matters in how we use our public lands at buff.ly/2YNUQcS. Deadline is Monday, August 12.
